"Oh Heimat, gib Zeugnis [Heart of Darkness]" uses the example of a small, seemingly harmonious village community to tell the story of the dangers of a society that is gradually becoming radicalized due to unprocessed social collective trauma and the resulting inability to face up to the challenges of the future.
"Oh Heimat, gib Zeugnis - Heart of Darkness" is a Feature Film that deals intensively with the sociological and psychological aspects of radicalizing societies in relation to transgenerational traumatization and trauma inheritance.
Imagine looking at a place with a magnifying glass and recognizing all the details. But as soon as you look at the overall picture, you can't understand where you are and at what time. This is Hollenrode, the location of this film - it is an amalgam of different cultures, customs and decades.
Inspired by ancient, traditional tales of witches, werewolves and other creatures from the Hesse region, we explore the secrets of this old village and uncover the repressed horrors of the past.
